Orland Grassland Birding Event
The Orland Grassland Volunteers are planning the Fourth Annual
Grassland bird count and need your help.
Help us answer these two very important questions…
Wow! I’ve never seen that bird before. "What is it?"
and
"Just how many kinds of birds are out here, anyway?"
Whether you are an experienced birder or new and curious, you are very welcome to be a part of this important, grand event. We need leaders and volunteers to spot and count the birds.
When: May 16, 2009 (Rain or Shine)
Time: 6:30 a.m.
Where: Orland Grassland parking lot, 167th St just west of LaGrange Rd.
SPECIAL FIRST-TIMERS SHORT BIRD HIKE
Dubious about showing up at 6:30 AM?
(even though that's the best time for birds)
Meet us in the parking lot at 11:00 for a brief recap of the day's
highlights and a special first-timers short bird hike
led by Stephen Packard, director, Audubon Chicago Region.
This is the perfect short hike -- from the parking lot out to the edge
of the prairie.
Last year we counted 80 birds of 30 species in the parking lot alone.
You will not be disappointed! Please join us at 11:00!
Bring binoculars if you have them.
